Gweddi
The newest candle to be added to the collection, Gweddi is a fusion of Greek and Welsh history. The scent of Greek Orthodox incense is wound into the story of the local saint here, who set up a Christian community in nearby Nevern in the 6th century. He used to climb Carn Ingli, the defunct volcano that sits atop of the little town of Newport and settle at the top to pray, with a cave for shelter when needed. Indeed, Carn Ingli got its name which means hill of the angels from St Brynach’s activities. The photo I’ve used for the label is of Carn Ingli’s rocky summit.
Back to the candle itself…it is loosely based on Greek Orthodox incense. I say loosely because it would normally contain some vanilla and as there is no pure vanilla essential oil, I have used benzoin, a similarly sweet, woody essential oil.
The essential oils in this candle are
Benzoin:
Frankincense:
Sandalwood:
Clove Bud:
Cinnamon Leaf:
All our candles are made only of sustainable plant waxes and pure essential oils - this means they are all-natural, vegan and are paraffin and palm oil free. They do not contain any artificial colouring. They come in tins because tinplate is infinitely recyclable, whereas many glass containers aren’t recyclable.
